Many libraries and groups are digitizing public domain works and making them available to the public in order to ensure their continued free availability to scholars, educators, students, and the public at large. While there is no central listing of works in the public domain, there is a growing number of web sites that list many public domain works. The Creative Commons plans to provide a comprehensive registry of public domain works in the future.
